IRSP in Belfast in Further Act of Kindness towards Refugees

Posted in IRSP, Uncategorized with tags , , , , on December 28, 2015 by The Plough & The Stars

When the Mid-Falls IRSP delivered their gifts to the refugees, the male adult member of the household asked us (via Google translate) if we could get his family a television to keep updated on the dire situation in their homeland.  We, in the Mid-Falls IRSP Cumann asked about our movement’s other cumainn in the city and within an hour a member of the Vol. Matt McLarnon Cumann told us that he could (very kindly) donate an excellent flat screen TV to the refugees (who as mentioned before have none of the small comforts of home we all take for granted).

The following text is taken verbatim from the Vol.Matt McLarnon IRSP Cumann’s Facebook page, whose catchment area is the Lower Falls, Belfast:

matt NcLarnon Cumann logoOn Christmas Eve, we reported on activists from the Mid-Falls IRSP cumann visiting a refugee family who have been housed in that area, bringing along a number of essential items and materials to hopefully ease them into their new surroundings. It was noted by the activists that the family had next to nothing in the house, and that a TV would be useful to them as they could then try and keep up to date with events in their native land.

Thankfully, an activist from our cumann had a spare TV which he was happy to donate. This morning, this activist was accompanied by another member of our cumann in delivering the TV to the family, which they were very grateful to receive.

This is only the beginning of activism such as this, and in coming weeks and months, working along with our comrades from other IRSP cumanns in Belfast, we will be seeking to assist others who are in need of a helping hand, both morally and physically, whether that be refugees, our own homeless, or less well off members of our communities.

Well done to our comrades from the Matt McLarnon cumann, especially the member who donated the television and his comrade/friend who visited the refugees (whose names we are withholding at their request) today.  It goes quite some way to makes nonsense of the concerted campaign of anti-IRSP scare stories, texts and letters which have recently regularly been appearing in a certain ‘local’ paper under false names!  People in working-class Republican areas know the truth…

Between two IRSP members from the Mid-Falls area,  at very short notice, both members’ partners managed to put together some welcome gifts which included:

    • Several items of new Diesel clothes that would fit the two very young kids in the household
    • A gift of cash
    • A large box of chocolates
    • Several new toys, still boxed, for the two children of the household
    • Several other assorted confectionaries
    • A “Welcome to the Neighbourhood” card with a local IRSP representative’s contact mobile number and the number of the IRSP HQ which is nearby
    • And several other items to let these traumatised people know that they were very welcome in our area

Despite being left in an extremely bare living room that’s only items of furniture consisted of an old cloth covered sofa, one wooden chair, an ironing board and a clothes horse, the adult male member of the family welcomed us into their home and gave us several cups of what would be their local version of coffee, something similar to Espresso. He had no English whatsoever, so we communicated via a google translate app on our phones!   Despite the language barrier, the adult male, thanked us for the welcome gifts that we brought.

If anyone can help with a few items, especially a television and some comfortable furniture at this holiday time, can they contact the admins at the Mid-Falls IRSP Facebook page using the following LINK .  These people who have no doubt been through a highly traumatic journey deserve a little comfort.  The father of the family explained that he is a skilled stone engraver and we witnessed some of his high standard of work when he showed us photographs of his skilled masonry on places of worship which included Churches and Mosques

We hope the community will make this family welcome and if anyone has an old tv, so that this family can keep updated on events in their homeland, please contact this LINK for further information on how to help, their address to deliver items, etc

Sa’adat: Samir Kuntar was committed to resistance in word, thought and deed

Posted in PFLP, PFLP/IRSP Solidarity, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on December 21, 2015 by The Plough & The Stars

The following message in honor of the martyr Samir Kuntar was issued by imprisoned PFLP General Secretary, Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, from Ramon Prison:

On behalf of my Comrades in the Political Bureau and the Central Committee, and the branch of the Front in the occupation prisons, and the cadres and members of the Front, I extend to the Lebanese and Palestinian people, the Arab nation, and the international movements for liberation my deepest condolences, revolutionary anger and solidarity in struggle as we bid farewell to the Arab struggler, the martyr Samir Kuntar, who was always loyal to the cause of Palestine.

He set his compass early to Palestine. Despite decades of imprisonment and physical injury he was for all of his life a solid struggler, armed with will, determination and resolve, believing in resistance in thought, word and deed, and committed to the inevitability of victory, true to the principles of liberation in which he was trained.

The martyr, through his loyalty and sacrifice, took a well-deserved place in the hearts and consciences of the Palestinian and Arab peoples, and his brothers and comrades in all factions, the national and Islamic forces who lived with him inside the prisons of the occupation.

Once again we send our warmest condolences to the family fo the martyr, the brother fighters in the resistance, and the adoptive mother of prisoners, Um Jaber Wishah, on the departure of this leader and revolutionary commando. We renew our confidence in the resistance to avenge this crime, and to proceed on the same line of march.

Glory to the martyrs, victory to our people!

Christmas Greetings from the Irish Republican Socialist Prisoners

Posted in Statements, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on December 21, 2015 by The Plough & The Stars

The Irish Republican Socialist prisoners in Portlaoise and Castlerea gaols would like to wish all our friends and comrades within the Republican Socialist Movement a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We commend the Irish Republican Socialist Party on their successful achievement in building the party of Connolly and Costello nationwide and in building a true Revolutionary Socialist alternative for the working class.

We commend the Volunteers of the Irish National Liberation Army for their part in contributing to the class struggle and who have a popularly supported revolutionary mandate and after 40+ years of struggle their position as disciplined revolutionaries remains the same! We salute all past and present members of the Republican Socialist Movement for their sterling contributions and to Teach Na failte for continuing to give IRSM prisoners and their families support throughout the year. The prisoners would also like to send our condolences to the O’Hara and McGlinchey family on the passing of Peggy and Declan this year. We also feel your loss and hope that despite this unimaginable sorrow you bear, your familiy circles may manage to comfort each other at this special time of the year.

We would also like to send our season greetings as Socialists and Internationalists to all political prisoners in Ireland and abroad who have lost their freedom to fight for National Liberation and Socialism. We make common cause with all those revolutionaries who oppose Imperialism here and in the developing world. As a Marxist Leninist Movement we encourage those to critique both the Corporate and Gombeen capitalist machine here using the scientific Socialism of Marx, Engels, Connolly and Lenin. We all recognise that Capitalism’s heartless pursuit of profit have deprived our class, the working class, of an equal society for their own social and economic well being.

We have seen a serious rise in the most draconian attacks on the most vulnerable strata of society this year, whether by the Free State Leinster House Gombeen scoundrels or the far right junta composed of a neo-Fianna Fail type reformist nationalist party in combine with the Fascist sectarian DUP, inflicting so-called austerity measures on the Irish Proletariat. We see no alternative but the revolutionary politics and direct action of Irish Republican Socialism advocated by Connolly and Costello in tandem with the political analysis, policies and of the IRSP. Through the mass agitation and mobilisation of the working class we can succeed in achieving theses objectives.

As the centenary of the 1916 rising approaches, it is the largest historical event of our generation. We are fully committed in contributing to the ideals and principals of the 1916 proclamation from within and without Irish gaols. We welcome all who share the same values as our leaders of 1916 to pursue their goals in achieving an equal society and to help end British rule over the north east of our island. We salute you all who genuinely seek a country that truly seeks to value the children of the nation equally!

Let the fight go on! Saoirse go deo!

Mid-Falls IRSP Are Currently Recruiting Members!

If you live in the Mid-Falls area of Belfast, and are interested in the revolutionary Republican Socialist politics of the Irish Republican Socialist Party or are interested in joining the party on what is so close to the Centenary of the Easter Rising, feel free to contact the admins on the Mid-Falls IRSP Facebook Page  by clicking the links .   Or alternatively contact your local IRSP representative in the Mid-Falls area  (there’s many of us about!).  Alternatively, one can self refer to the Irish Republican Socialist Party HQ; Costello House, 392b, Falls Road, Belfast or telephone Belfast 028 90321024.

As most people in a variety of areas from Donegal to Cork are aware, the I.R.S.P are going from strength to strength; IRSP activism on a variety of issues effecting the Irish working class and our grassroots membership is growing exponentially.  The Irish working class people, some in the most vulnerable positions, have ‘copped-on’ that they have been shafted by Bourgeois politicians in both Stormont and Leinster House.

As James Connolly, the IRSP’s ideological forefather prophetically stated in his famous quote:

“If you remove the English army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle, unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts would be in vain. England would still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs.”

For National Liberation & A Socialist Republic

“Ireland without her people is nothing to me, and the man who is bubbling over with love and enthusiasm for ‘Ireland’, and can yet pass unmoved through our streets and witness all the wrong and the suffering, the shame and the degradation wrought upon the people of Ireland, aye, wrought by Irishmen upon Irishmen and women, without burning to end it, is, in my opinion, a fraud and a liar in his heart, no matter how he loves that combination of chemical elements which he is pleased to call ‘Ireland’.” (James Connolly: The Coming Generation 1900 )

“Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.” (Karl Marx)

To subvert the tyranny of our execrable government, to break the connection with England, the never failing source of all our political evils, and to assert the independence of my country—these were my objects. To unite the whole people of Ireland, to abolish the memory of all past dissentions, and to substitute the common name of Irishman, in the place of the denominations of Protestant, Catholic, and Dissenter—these were my means.”

To unite Protestant, Catholic and Dissenter under the common name of Irishmen in order break the connection with England, the never failing source of all our political evils, that was my aim“.

If the men of property will not support us, they must fall. Our strength shall come from that great and respectable class, the men of no property“. (Theobald Wolfe Tone)

Sectarianism: The Byproduct of Imperialism

The Belfast Relief Riots 1932 when the Falls and Shankill united over Stormont Cuts

It is well documented that plantation and the carefully planned division of the Irish Working-class in the north of Ireland are the vile spawn of British Imperialism that keeps Hibernians and Fascists in power with more money in their pockets than most of us could ever dream of.

Every morning I drive through both ‘Republican’ and ‘Loyalist’ areas  and I see more similarities than differences.  The working class in both areas, whether they be on low wages, unemployed or underemployed, all look the same, face the same fears of redundancy, benefit cuts or pay freezes.  This divide and conquer legacy keeps Orange and Green charlatans in power and the proletariat, whether they be Catholic, Protestant or Atheist, in their allotted boxes where they will be called upon to vote on a sectarian basis every few years.  I will leave it up to the reader to guess who are the real winners and who are put back in their boxes until needed by craven politicians.

The Belfast Relief Riots 1932 when the Falls and Shankill united over Stormont Cuts

As a mature student at QUB some years ago many of my ‘peers’ were later to become senior figures in the likes of the DUP and I was appalled at the condescending, nay hostile, way they talked of working class people who lived in areas like Sandy Row, the Shankill and Taughmonagh etc.  It was as if they were ‘ballot box fodder’ and the scum of the earth (God knows what they thought of the Proletariat in Republican areas but that was not for my hearing, as a known Republican).

Despite it’s longevity, sectarianism is not monolithic!  The Falls and the Shankill united in the 1930’s over, topically enough, cuts to the meagre ‘relief’ welfare provisions of the day.  We are entering a similar period and it is time for Catholic and Protestant working class people not to be fooled by the Orange or Green card being played.  United we can sweep these Tory/fascists away.  And like Connolly, we are not ‘gas and water’ Socialists, our aim is an Irish Workers republic where Catholic, Protestant and dissenters can take control of the means of production and exchange.  I want no part of a ‘wrap the Green (or Orange flag) unitary state.  I want a state where the powers of the Catholic Church, the Orange Order etc are not what defines us.

It is time for us to unite irrespective of what church (or lack of one) one attends and we will reap a whirlwind together, united under the Red flag of working class power.  The power we can wield, forgetting old shibboleths, will overwhelm the Stormont charlatans and the Leinster House Gombeen men.

United as one class, the working class, we can improve our lives and the power we would possess would be more powerful than anything since the 1930’s.  United we stand, only divided we will fail!

Big Jim Larkin, an Englishman who united Catholic, Protestant and dissenter during the 1907 Dock Strike. Even persuading the RIC to go on strike!
