The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that the Zionist occupation forces launched a pre-dawn campaign of raids across the occupied West Bank of Palestine on Sunday, arresting a number of leaders and activists of the Front, led by the Palestinian Legislative Council member Khalida Jarrar, feminist activist Khitam Saafin and former prisoner Ihab Massoud, as well as a number of activists in al-Khalil. The Front declared that these attacks will not stop it from continuing its role in resistance to occupation and confronting the crimes and projects that attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

The Front emphasized that these arrests only underline the futility of the choices of the Palestinian Authority to continue to bet on settlements, “peace process” and security coordination. It also confirms the correctness of the Front’s position and its continuing struggle to build the resistance and the primary contradiction with the occupation as a major feature of its approach and political positions.

The Front further stated that these arrests have come after the major campaign of incitement launched by the Zionist entity and its prime minister, the war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, against the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the resistance factions.

The PFLP urged the Palestinian masses to escalate the popular movement to support the struggle of the brave prisoners in Israeli jails, for Jarrar and Saafin and the prisoner Muhammad Allan, on hunger strike for 25 days.

The Front promised to continue to defend the rights and principles of the Palestinian people. Continued targeting by the occupation only emphasizes the importance of continuing the path to return and liberation.

Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat on May 1: The popular classes of Palestine are on the front lines of revolution

Posted in PFLP, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 8, 2017 by The Plough & The Stars

Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, the imprisoned General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, delivered a special message from prison via the Campaign to Free Ahmad Sa’adat to the forces and movements of the Left in the world on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, marking a renewed landmark of revolutionary struggle against imperialism, Zionism and fascism and the forces of class and social exploitation. Sa’adat said in the statement that the open-ended hunger strike being waged currently by the Palestinian prisoners’ movement is the most prominent national site of confrontation with the Zionist occupation and its racist settler-colonial laws. He urges the expansion of the campaign for boycott and the isolation of the occupation at an international level.

Comrades and friends

Revolutionary greetings,
Greetings of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine,
Greetings to the strugglers for justice, freedom, equality and progress everywhere.

Greetings to you from inside the prisons and cells of Zionism, and salutes to all those who celebrate today, who march and participate in this day, in the lighting of the flame of this immortal, human, day, the first of May, the day of workers, the people, and the struggling classes. This is the day in which we together renew our primary commitment to defend the rights and interests of the impoverished and struggling classes with a fundamental interest in progress and change, the classes that were and still are the front line of the revolution, standing against the savage forces of capitalism, occupation, colonialism and racism.

Greetings from the camps of our people in the homeland and in the Diaspora, these Palestinian camps that were and still are strongholds of resistance, popular resistance and revolution, the birth of the front of popular classes, struggling workers, poor revolutionaries and revolutionary intellectuals. Our Palestinian camps, the incubator of the revolution and the popular intifada, are living these days under harsh and difficult conditions, both within and outside Palestine. Despite oppression, exclusion, marginalization and siege, the masses of our people continue to fight for their sacred right to return to their land and to the homes, villages and towns from which they were forcibly displaced.

Our message today is to all the revolutionary forces in Latin America and Africa, in the Philippines, Turkey and Greece, in the belts of misery and the struggling cities everywhere: The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine stands with you on May 1, renewing its commitment to the relentless and unconditional defense of the rights of the exploited, confronting the domination of colonialism, the forces of exploitation and the tools of class and social oppression. We call for the widest international left alliance to confront the camp of exploitation and capital and build the alternative, a socialist society.

May 1 was and will remain a day of struggle and adherence to the fundamental principles that the revolutionary, democratic left was created to achieve. The values of a society of justice, freedom and equality, working to consolidate the values of international and human solidarity to serve the people, for the well-being and dignity of humanity. One of our common tasks is to defend the rights of refugees everywhere and to defend migrants and the impoverished classes, especially those living in the midst of imperialist countries.

From here, from the Israeli prison cells, where our brave and beloved ones are fighting a new heroic epic that is entering its 15th consecutive day in the battle of the open hunger strike, we call upon you to uphold these values and put them into action by supporting the struggle of the prisoners and putting pressure on your governments to boycott, divest from and sanction the occupation state. The isolation of the occupation state, besieging it on a popular, international level, means that the date of freedom for our people and for all prisoners inside the prisons of “Israel” approaches ever more closely.

Comrades,

Today, almost everywhere, our Palestinian people are facing a campaign of relentless and unprecedented wars against our national liberation movement. A broad economic, political and security campaign led by the United States and Israel and the reactionary forces in the region is a war aimed first and foremost at the popular classes, seeking to liquidate the cause of the Palestinian people and the rights of the Palestinian people.

What is happening in the Arab world and the region generally demands that all the forces of the international left must unite and come together to face the threatened disasters, woes and wars in the region, especially if Trump and his right-wing racist, fascist camp succeed in implementing their plans to swallow the wealth of the Arab nation. And therefore, we in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine call upon you to bang on the walls of silence in your society against the Trump camp, run today by a handful of generals and major corporations.

Comrades and friends everywhere,

Today, the Israeli racist entity is further rooting its settlement laws and institutionalizing them in all of the details of the lives of the Palestinian people within the occupied territory and throughout our historic homeland, with the aim of imposing an enhanced form of subjugation based on oppression, exploitation, apartheid, siege and starvation. Israel is trying to impose this new order of subjugation on the masses of our people, inside occupied Palestine 1948, in the West Bank, in the Gaza Strip, in Jerusalem, even if some details differ here and there.

Our Palestinian liberation struggle is entering a new and difficult stage of struggle, but we have a deep confidence in the will of the masses of our people, our courageous workers, and their revolutionary capacities are firmly established and stronger than anything.

We promise that the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine will remain on the front lines to confront imperialism, Zionism and the forces of injustice and social oppression in Palestine and in the region. Because this is our responsibility. This is our duty. This is the path we choose to achieve our people’s goals of return, liberation, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on all of the land of historic Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital, the eternal and united capital of the Palestinian people.

Long live May 1, a day of freedom and struggle
Long live international solidarity
Victory to the Palestinian prisoners in the battle of freedom and dignity
Freedom for all political prisoners in the world
Victory is certain

Your comrade,
Ahmad Sa’adat

Statement No. 1 by the PFLP Prison Branch leadership

pressconfbilal

At this time, our heroic comrade Bilal Kayed has announced that he is carrying out an open hunger strike, after the unjust decision of the occupation authority ordering him to administrative detention for six months on the day of his scheduled release, June 13, 2016, after the comrade spent 14 and a half years in captivity, the last year in solitary confinement.

We in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – Prison Branch announce that his battle is our battle, and the battle of all of the comrades of the PFLP and all of the Palestinian people. From the first day of the decision of the fascist occupation, we have opened the struggle and protest on June 14 and will continue throughout the month of June and early July, culminating in opening the second phase of the battle: an open hunger strike by all of our comrades in prison after July 7, 2016. We assure that we will not retreat from this battle until we have broken the arrogance of the occupation and its security institutions, and broken this decision, which puts all prisoners at high risk and endangers our people’s rights to freedom, dignity and humanity.

On this basis, we declare the following:

We are in this battle to stand as a historical moment in the prisoners’ movement struggles, to solidify a strong foundation to respond to the violations of the prison administration, and raise any issue for Palestinian prisoners to the level of a national task and a national struggle for the prisoners’ movement.

The decision of the occupation and its institutions to order Comrade Bilal to administrative detention after the expiration of his sentence is a serious threat to all Palestinian prisoners that we must confront early before it becomes a systematic policy of the occupation.

We in the Prison Branch organization have declared a state of emergency for all of our comrades in the prisons of the occupation, who are completely ready to struggle in this battle and to receive the direction of the leadership of the Prison Branch. We confirm that ending the administrative detention and immediate freedom for Comrade Bilal has become one of our main missions, and we will not hesitate a moment to carry forward this banner until victory.

We urge all of the Palestinian people inside and outside Palestine, all friends, and the Palestinian media to stand in this honorable battle through protests, activities, media events and actions throughout each day of this struggle.

Victory is inevitable.

Jarrar: We need a serious effort to link the issue of prisoners to the boycott movement

Posted: 16 Jun 2016 07:26 AM PDT

kj3All of the proposed international “initiatives” for settlement in Palestine are a “waste of time,” said freed prisoner and Palestinian leader Comrade Khalida Jarrar, in a Wednesday evening interview with Palestine Today satellite channel. “The continued reliance on bilateral negotiations…or other initiatives that differ slightly but remain on the framework of familed negotiations, without any political review required to replace it with a new political track to enhance Palestinian steadfastness and unity, is wasteful and destructive,” said Jarrar.

Jarrar said that the goal of these many initiatives is to cut the road in front of real political choice and political struggle, while diminishing the strength of the Palestinian case internationally, saying that the so-called “Arab initiative” is not a “serious option to support the Palestinian people and enable them to end the occupation.” She noted that a number of Arab countries are attempting to strengthen their relations with the occupation and using such initiatives in their interests in this regard.

Addressing the situation of Palestinian prisoners, she highlighted the imprisonment of Palestinian women, Palestinian children, and Palestinian elders – as well as “the arrest of Palestinian martyrs’ bodies,” saying the imprisonment of Palestinian bodies and refusal to return them for burial “demonstrates the fascist nature of the occupation.”

On the case of Bilal Kayed, Jarrar said that “two days ago, the struggler Bilal Kayed had a date with freedom after 14 and a half years behind bars, but the occupation ordered him to six months administrative detention. This is a very dangerous precedent.” She demanded the Palestinian Authority end security coordination with the occupation immediately, and called on international institutions to intensify their efforts to support Palestinian prisoners and hold the occupation accountable internationally.

“The occupation is chasing the Palestinian people and its strugglers wherever they are,” Jarrar said, referring to the case of Omar Nayef Zayed, found dead in the Palestinian embassy in Sofia on 26 February. She noted that there must be accountability for the Palestinian embassy in Bulgaria, in particular Ambassador Ahmad Al-Madhbouh. “It is necessary to take steps against both weakness and collusion in the case of the martyr Omar Nayef Zayed….for the killing of a struggling Palestinian within the embassy itself, there must be serious accountability. We do not absolve the ambassador, the embassy, the Foreign Ministry or the Palestinian Authority,” said Jarrar.

Jarrar emphasized that the global movement for boycott, divestment and sanctions has made great achievements internationally and that it is necessary to intensify efforts linked directly with the prisoners’ movement for real results for Palestinian prisoners. “There must be a serious effort to link the issue of prisoners to the boycott. The boycott movement deeply troubles the occupier and there are attempts to issue decisions and laws to prosecute boycott activity.”

Jarrar was released from occupation prison on Friday, 3 June, after 15 months in prison.

Barakat: Majdalani’s participation in the Herzliya Conference is a stab in the back of the Palestinian people

Posted: 16 Jun 2016 07:25 AM PDT

barakatThe participation of Ahmad Majdalani, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, in the 16th Zionist Herzliya Conference requires accountability, said Comrade Khaled Barakat, Palestinian leftist writer.

In a press statement, Barakat noted that the monopolistic leadership of the PLO not only has approved of the participation of Majdalani and others in the conference but also markets this approach of negotiations and normalization projects that have brought the national cause to a point of retreat and despair.

Majdalani accomplished nothing from this participation except to add his name to a list of shame of those who participate in the Herzliya Conference, on “Israeli strategy” for hegemony and control over Palestine and the region, since 2000 until today.

Majdalani and his ilk cannot attend such conferences and also claim to speak on behalf of the Palestinian people, especially a conference like this that are designed to study the most effective strategies for protecting the Zionist racist project in the region, said Barakat. The resistance forces must learn from the Palestinian Authority’s long-time polcy of justification and half-positions; all resistance forces must expose these people and forces before the Palestinian and Arab masses.

Barakat said that the wave of normalization by some official Palestinian parties, formally and informally, is in full swing and is being supported by the Palestinian leadership, saying that it is a trend that must be stopped and those responsible held accountable.

War of the Flea: The Classic Study of Guerrilla Warfare

“The guerrilla fights the war of the flea, and his military enemy suffers the dog’s disadvantages: too much to defend; too small, ubiquitous, and agile an enemy to come to grips with.” (Robert Taber)

The ‘War of the Flea: The Classic Study Of Guerrilla Warfare’ by Robert Taber arguably surpassess  Carlos Marighella’s ‘Handbook of Urban Guerrilla Warfare”,”On Rural Guerrilla Warfare”,“Guerrilla Tactics and Operations” contained in his book ‘For The Liberation of Brazil’, perhaps the most valued studies in guerrilla struggle.

nlffighters-07e11

‘The War of The Flea’ is timeless and has been utilised as a tactical manual from every group opposing imperialist armies, from the NVA and Vietnamese National Liberation Front (called the ‘Viet Cong’ by the USA).   Robert Taber, quotes Vo Nguyen Giap, the Vietnamese commanding general from 1944-1978, on guerillas fighting a conventional Western army, who obviously concurs that:

“The enemy will pass slowly from the offensive to the defensive. The blitzkrieg will transform itself into a war of duration. Thus, the enemy will be caught in a dilemma: He has to drag out the war in order to win it, and does not possess, on the other hand, the psychological and political means to fight a long, drawn-out war.”

Taber is an excellent analyst of anti-imperialist struggles and arguably, even more valuable, has an insight into the mindset of the ‘dog’ attacked by the ‘flea’,

“Whether the primary cause of revolution is nationalism, or social justice, or the anticipation of material progress, the decision to fight and to sacrifice is a social and a moral decision. Insurgency is thus a matter not of manipulation but of inspiration.

I am aware that such conclusions are not compatible with the pictures of guerrilla operations and guerrilla motivations drawn by the counterinsurgency theorists who are so much in vogue today. But the counterinsurgency experts have yet to win a war. At this writing, they are certainly losing one.

Their picture is distorted because their premises are false and their observation faulty. They assume–perhaps their commitments require them to assume–that politics is mainly a manipulative science and insurgency mainly a politico-military technique to be countered by some other technique; whereas both are forms of social behavior, the latter being the mode of popular resistance to unpopular governments.”

Robert Taber’s classic ‘War of the Flea: The Classic Study Of Guerrilla Warfare’ is a must read for all revolutionaries, students of conflict and those interested in the principles of guerrilla war.  Although written in the 1960’s it has yet to be surpassed in content and is still used by peoples’ repressed by imperialist forces globally, from the Hezbollah, The Popular Front For The Liberation of Palestine, the Maoist Naxelite Guerrillas in India to FARC and ELN in Columbia, to name but a few….

The War of the Flea is available from all good booksellers, including Amazon, where it can be purchased for as little as just over £7.

Sa’adat: Samir Kuntar was committed to resistance in word, thought and deed

saadatquntar

The following message in honor of the martyr Samir Kuntar was issued by imprisoned PFLP General Secretary, Comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, from Ramon Prison:

On behalf of my Comrades in the Political Bureau and the Central Committee, and the branch of the Front in the occupation prisons, and the cadres and members of the Front, I extend to the Lebanese and Palestinian people, the Arab nation, and the international movements for liberation my deepest condolences, revolutionary anger and solidarity in struggle as we bid farewell to the Arab struggler, the martyr Samir Kuntar, who was always loyal to the cause of Palestine.

He set his compass early to Palestine. Despite decades of imprisonment and physical injury he was for all of his life a solid struggler, armed with will, determination and resolve, believing in resistance in thought, word and deed, and committed to the inevitability of victory, true to the principles of liberation in which he was trained.

The martyr, through his loyalty and sacrifice, took a well-deserved place in the hearts and consciences of the Palestinian and Arab peoples, and his brothers and comrades in all factions, the national and Islamic forces who lived with him inside the prisons of the occupation.

Once again we send our warmest condolences to the family fo the martyr, the brother fighters in the resistance, and the adoptive mother of prisoners, Um Jaber Wishah, on the departure of this leader and revolutionary commando. We renew our confidence in the resistance to avenge this crime, and to proceed on the same line of march.

Glory to the martyrs, victory to our people!

PFLP: Heroic individual resistance actions require popular support, must inspire leadership

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on October 11, 2015 by The Plough & The Stars

Source: PFLP

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that the upsurge in individual resistance actions carried out by heroic Palestinian youth throughout the occupied homeland are important operations that must continue, escalate and evolve, and need popular support in the West Bank and Jerusalem in various forms in light of the occupier’s continuous crimes against our people.

The PFLP emphasized that these resistance actions have taken multiple forms, including resistance with knives; this stems from the resolve and determination of the Palestinian youth to restore their land and their rights of which they are deprived, and their conviction in the justice of their cause.

The Front said that the Zionist enemy should know that every Palestinian is a potential guerrilla to confront the occupation and the settlements; there is no place to find security or stability as a colonizer. The Palestinian people will not give up their rights until the last drop of blood in their veins.

The Front also emphasized the need to support these individual actions on an organized level through the immediate call to form a unified national leadership in all areas, to manage and lead this battle and to elevate the level of resistance actions to deal serious blows to the Zionist entity and the settlers. The Front also emphasized the need to embrace the families of the heroic guerrillas, and provide whatever they need to support them, and to defend them from attacks by the occupation.
